Off Piste Wines has launched a new 2013 vintage red wine in Morrisons, featuring a “bold” flavour without the accompanying price tag.
The Duke is derived from a Spanish cross-regional blend of Campo de Borja and Manchuela, combining soft tempranillo and oaked shiraz with merlot and vibrant garnacha. Described as “confident in character and bold in taste,” the vintage features notes of “rich and intense red fruit and sweet berry flavours”.
It also boasts a “juicy, silky and opulent texture with a seriously soft and smooth finish”.
Cheltenham-based Off Piste Wines recommends pairing the 13.5% ABV beverage with red meat, roasts and barbecue feasts. It is hoping that the accessible price point of £7.99 will appeal to a broader base of consumers, coupled with “all the character, breeding and personality” of a good red wine, after it launched in UK outlets of supermarket chain Morrisons.
