The 10,000 sq ft building, which is positioned on a 1.2-acre site on Shaw Road in Bushbury, was opened on 26 October in a ceremony led by Angel Springs managing director John Dundon.
Speaking at the event, McFadden and Patel acknowledged the important contribution that businesses such as Angel Springs make to the Midlands economy, recognising their merits as growing regional businesses and key employers of local people.
McFadden also praised the decision by Angel Springs’ directors to retain the business’ UK headquarters close to its original roots in Ettingshall, saying that this demonstrated ‘a sound commitment to the Midlands region as a whole, as well as to its 80 Wolverhampton based employees, many who live close by’.
Having previously been based at smaller premises on Spring Road in Ettingshall, Angel Springs’ relocation to much larger operations is in recognition of the business’ considerable growth and head count expansion since it was established in 2003.
In nine years, the firm has trebled its annual turnover to £16m, and the last three years have seen profits double following a series of new business wins.
Alongside this strong organic growth strategy, Angel Springs has also completed three successful acquisitions since last year, including taking a 50% stake in the Fillongley Spring Water bottling plant in Warwickshire to help service depots across the wider West and East Midlands region.
The business has now increased employee numbers from 168 in 2010 to more than 200 today.
Angel Springs’ Wolverhampton operation currently employs 80 people, but has plans to increase head count by around 20% over the next 12 months, particularly within the sales, customer service and administration functions.
In the last three months, the business has consistently increased its customer base by around 1,000 new customers per month, with several new contract wins being located within the Midlands region.
Speaking at the official opening, John Dundon, managing director, Angel Springs, said: “The official opening of our new UK headquarters in Wolverhampton by Pat McFadden and Jay Patel has provided Angel Springs with a great opportunity to shine the spotlight on the growth and success we’ve achieved with our customers right here in the Midlands, and also on a national level across the UK.
“Our business has enjoyed solid growth and progression in recent years, and this move to larger and more sophisticated premises represents an important milestone in our success story. I would like to thank everyone at Angel Springs for their continued support and hard work as we look to build further on this success for many years to come.”
