Frito-Lay has unveiled a new chocolate peanut butter-flavoured variety to its Cracker Jack brand of popcorn.
Available in 4oz bags from retailers nationwide, the flavour takes its inspiration from the peanut butter cup – a molded, chocolate-covered, peanut butter-filled confectionery that is popular across the US. It will join the brand’s existing flavour varieties, which include chocolate and caramel and butter toffee.
“Featuring a modern twist on the classic snack, each airy popcorn kernel is coated with sweet and savory chocolate peanut butter flavor that’s sure to be a deliciously shareable treat for any family activity,” the PepsiCo company said.
Its introduction will coincide with National Popcorn Lovers’ Day – a conceived holiday for fans of the snack that will be celebrated this year on 12 March.
Haston Lewis, senior director of marketing for Frito-Lay, said: “Chocolate peanut butter is among the most popular flavour pairings of all-time. What better way to celebrate National Popcorn Lover’s Day than enjoying this new Cracker Jack brand flavour with family and friends?”
