Primo Water North America, a subsidiary of Primo Water Corporation, has acquired Mountain Valley Water Company of Los Angeles (MVLA) for an undisclosed figure.
MVLA is a major distributor of water dispensers and bottled water to homes and offices in the Los Angeles area, and the company is the largest distributor of Mountain Valley Spring Water in the US. Primo Water Corporation already owns the Mountain Valley Spring Water brand, as it was purchased by the firm’s DS Services arm for $75.8 million in 2018, when the company was still known as Cott Corporation.
According to a statement from Primo Water Corporation, the acquisition of MVLA will add 8,000 news customers to Primo’s existing customer base, and will strengthen its position in the Los Angeles area.
Primo states that existing MVLA customers will still be able to purchase Mountain Valley Spring Water products, in addition to Primo’s other water, tea and coffee offerings.
Dave Muscato, president of Primo NA, said: “MVLA shares our focus on offering high-quality products and delivering superior customer service and strengthens our footprint and customer density in southern California.
“We are excited to become the sole home and office bottled water distributor of our great Mountain Valley Spring Water product in southern California, and we welcome the Los Angeles Mountain Valley customers and associates to our family.”
Mark Scott, president of MVLA, added: “Primo NA is a natural combination for MVLA given our mutual commitment to delivering the highest quality water products centered around natural sources, premier customer service and ecological preservation.
“I look forward to seeing the combined success of our products and services under Primo’s ownership.”
Formerly known as Cott Corporation, Primo Water Corporation was established as Cott’s new corporate name following its acquisition of Primo Water in a deal ‘valued at $775m’ earlier this year.
Earlier this year, Primo’s North American division expanded its operations with the purchase of the Texas and Tennessee assets of bottled water firm Mountain Glacier, adding 2,500 new customers.
The company also announced earlier this month that its US operations had been certified as carbon-neutral under The CarbonNeutral Protocol.
