Two of Cathy’s Spelt for Health bread mixes have gone on sale with online retailer Ocado, marking the Irish brand’s latest major UK listing.
The multiseed spelt bread mix and wholemeal spelt bread mix are both made with 100% spelt flour, yeast-free and contain no added sugar. They will launch on Ocado with retail prices of £3.59 and £3.56 respectively – both for 450g of product.
The bread mixes, which are also high in fibre and free from added sugar, emerged when the brand’s founder suffered from anaphylactic shocks and began baking her own breads using spelt flour. She then created the mixes, ready to bake in five minutes, so consumers could make the bread themselves at home.
Cathy Whitty, founder of Cathy’s Spelt for Health, said: “To sell online through Ocado is a huge stamp of approval for our products. It allows us to compete om a more level playing field. In online retailing, shelf position and the number of facings your product has is not an issue.”
The bread mix range is also available through Whole Foods Market and selected independent retailers.
