However, Unite said that the one-day strike set for Friday (21 December) is still scheduled to go-ahead. The dispute centres on pay and a proposed seven day-a-week working.
Unite regional officer, Des Quinn said: “Tomorrow’s strike (Tuesday 18 December) has been called off so that progress can be made in talks with the management with a view for a fair and equitable settlement.
“Unite won’t be commenting further while these talks continue. However, the 24-hour strike scheduled for this Friday (21 December) is still set to go-ahead.”
The workers, members of Unite, at the Bevan Way and Dial Lane sites in Smethwick, West Bromwich and the Lincoln Street plant in Wolverhampton, took a day’s successful strike action on Friday (14 December).
The sites supply cut chicken to major supermarkets.
