Scottish lager brand Tennent’s has unveiled a series of initiatives for Valentine’s Day – including the release of a new themed pack which includes “humorous Scottish declarations of love” printed on pack.
The 300ml cans, available in a pack of 12, will be available from Tesco stores across Scotland and feature phrases such as “pure stunner”, “alright gorgeous” and “ya big darlin’ on the label. The brand has also included love hearts as part of the background of the labels.
In addition, Tennent’s will offer brides-to-be the chance to propose to their partners using the large-screen television outside the company’s Wellpark Brewery in Glasgow. As part of the campaign, one lucky couple will win the chance to get married at the Wellpark facility, and, Tennents said, “live hoppily ever after”.
It is inviting entries to the competition by video, with the clips that make the cut being screened on 29 February. Traditionally, it is only on this day that brides can propose to their grooms-to-be.
A Tennent’s Lager spokesperson said: “We’ve been looking for ways to spread as much love as possible since we launched our new Valentine’s-inspired pack, and what better way than to help couples pop the question? We all know ladies can propose whenever they want, but a leap year is traditionally when women are supposed to ask their partners. We’ve cleared the schedule on the big screen for the day so if you know anyone who’s looking to propose in an unforgettable way, get them to send in a video.
“We’re sure there must be someone out there with a partner whose dream it is to get married at Scotland’s finest brewery and if their other half loves them enough to send in a video that tugs at our heart strings, we’ll make it happen for them. If they’re already hitched they can always pop into Tesco and pick up a limited-edition Valentines pack to give them instead of course.”
