Thames Water’s 8.8m customers in London and the Thames Valley received water that was 99.97% compliant with national and European standards, against an average compliance figure for the industry of 99.96%, according to the Drinking Water Inspectorate.
Martin Baggs, Thames Water’s chief executive, said: “On average we supply more than 1,000 litres a week to each of our 8.8m water customers at a cost of about a tenth of a penny per litre – an excellent product at an excellent price.”
Over the past three years, Thames Water has on average had the best water quality of all the major suppliers in England and Wales.
