US-based snack bar producer ThinkKids has released a new range of protein bars created for children, which will be available in the US.
Five flavours of the bar will be available: Chocolate chip, peanut butter chip, cookies & creme, cinnamon sugar cookie and vanilla cupcake.
Bars in the range contain 7g of protein, 3g of fibre and 4g of sugar per serving, and the bars are gluten-free, GMO-free and are made with no artificial flavours or colours.
ThinKids said that the bars were created to offer an alternative to high-sugar snack products on the market, providing children with a more nutritious snacking option.
Cherry Joh, senior marketing director for ThinkKids said: “Snack and granola bars are a $3 billion dollar category. We saw a hole in the marketplace because many kids bars don’t contain a lot of protein and can often be loaded with sugar.
“Our challenge was to make a bar with the right nutritional profile and that also tastes great. That’s why we taste-tested our bars with kids 6 to 12 years old and only their favourite bars made the final cut.”
ThinkKids bars will be available from US retailers such as Target and Kroger later this summer, packaged in five bar multi-packs.
