This marks the final stage of a four-year development project funded by the Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE).
Trewithen Dairy produces and distributes a range of milk, butter, yogurt and Cornish clotted cream.
Trewithen began its £11.4m project in 2009, which is 50% match funded by a £5.7m grant from the RDPE. Having already completed major expansion works and exceeded the spend targets set by the RDPE in the first three years, Trewithen has now commissioned further construction due to be completed by November 2013.
This marks the final stage in the redevelopment project which is on track to be completed in its entirety by the end of 2013.
The money has so far been used to expand the dairy processing plant and deliver a range of improvements across the existing property. Since the grant was first awarded, Trewithen Dairy has completed major site modifications and enabling works, including a full energy and utilities enhancement.
It has also installed a new pasteuriser, and upgraded facilities to handle the packing of its clotted cream, as well as adding a second milk bottle filling line.
