The capital’s foodie culture, which has soared in the last 10 years, means that diners are no longer willing to put up with bad service, hidden costs and high prices when eating out.
According to the poll almost a third of Londoners say they are regularly spending £120 on a meal for just two people with wine. However when it is hidden costs and stealth charges are hiking up the bill Londoners are opting to eat at home – with more than 40% saying they are eating out less than this time last year.
The survey, conducted by multi-cuisine delivery service Deliverance, found Londoners have experienced rushed service, high prices and unexpected charges when dining in the capital.
According to the poll:
Spencer Skinner, chairman of Deliverance, said: “Delverance is very proud to be serving in a city where the people rightly demand high standards and transparency of charges from its food establishments.”
