Premium bourbon brand Woodford Reserve has introduced its new Woodford Reserve Kentucky straight rye whiskey – the first permanent rye whiskey expression to be released as part of the brand.
Launching in the UK on-trade channel next month, the whiskey continues the brand’s practice of creating rare whiskeys with provenance and meets demand for innovative, high quality whiskey, Woodford Reserve said.
Crafted at the US’ oldest operating distillery dating back to 1812, the whiskey is made in the traditional style of Kentucky ryes; it delivers bold flavours of pepper and tobacco with a long fruit and sweetly spiced finish. The 42.5% ABV beverage is bottled in a 750ml format.
Woodford Reserve master distiller Chris Morris said: “Our commitment to flavour is something that is ingrained in everything we do and no liquid embodies that better than Woodford Reserve Kentucky straight rye whiskey. With its bold flavours of pepper and tobacco combined with its long fruit and sweetly spiced finish, it’s been really well received in the US and I’m sure the growing army of whiskey fans around the UK are going to find it really interesting.”
Nidal Ramini, head of advocacy for brand owner Brown-Forman, added: “Woodford Reserve has long produced award-winning whiskey with a commitment to the spirit of innovation, and the rye is no exception. As discerning consumers continue to look for new and interesting whiskeys that offer something they’ve never experienced before, we are excited to be able to share the distinctive flavour and high quality of Woodford Reserve Kentucky straight rye whiskey with them. This whiskey is not just a rye whiskey from Woodford Reserve, but a Woodford Reserve rye whiskey and we’re confident that its quality and distinctive flavour profile will ensure it is a big hit in bars and restaurants around the UK.”
