Dr. Oetker Professional has launched two new sweet pizzas as it responds to consumer demand for more indulgent desserts.
The foodservice offerings feature a deep dish base and Dr. Oetker Professional said they can be cooked in the oven with no special equipment or kitchen skills.
Using a sweet base, the chocolate dessert pizza has a signature chocolate crust that is topped with a gooey chocolate sauce and a trio of dark, white and milk chocolate chunks.
Meanwhile, the salted caramel dessert pizza includes a combination of milk and white chocolate chips with chunks of salted caramel.
Research from Dr. Oetker Professional said that over half of UK consumers are bored with traditional dessert options and three-quarters would like to see menus refreshed.
The range features both chocolate and salted caramel pizzas.
Richard Cooper, senior brand manager of Dr. Oetker Professional (UK), said: “Our new findings show that consumers are increasingly searching for desserts that will truly excite them. With 89% saying the top reason for choosing a dessert was for an indulgent treat, the arrival of the new pizzas is sure to prove a big profit opportunity for operators.”
He added: “The new additions to the range provide a delicious sweet twist to pizza. In fact, with 71% of consumers saying they would order the chocolate or salted caramel dessert pizzas if they saw them on a menu, operators can start to benefit from this popularity to drive dessert sales.”
Last year Dr. Oetker added three new flavours to its pizza range in Australia: chocolate, Bianca and nachos.
