Starbucks plans to update its ready-to-drink (RTD) portfolio next year with new variants featuring almond milk.
Bottled Frappuccino coffee – the company’s longest-standing RTD product – will be available from May 2018 with almond milk in vanilla and mocha variants. With 35% less calories than coffee and mocha Frappuccinos, Starbucks said the line is for customers who prefer non-dairy alternatives in their beverages.
Also in May 2018, Starbucks will add Doubleshot coffee smoothies made with real fruit and almond milk as it further expands in non-dairy alternatives. These will be available in dark chocolate banana and vanilla honey banana flavours.
In a statement, Starbucks said: “Through the North American Coffee Partnership, Starbucks and PepsiCo have led the steadily growing RTD coffee category through innovation and distribution.
“This partnership created the category more than 20 years ago with the launch of the iconic bottled Frappuccino drink, and now offers more than 50 RTD coffee, and coffee + energy products.”
Earlier this year the coffee company introduced a limited-edition RTD salted caramel mocha iced latte.
