The 454g festive Lyle’s Golden Syrup tin has been carefully plated in 9 carat gold and engraved with the seasonal Bake, Eat and Be Merry livery before being filled with syrup at the Lyle’s Golden Syrup factory in East London.
The golden tin will be auctioned online at Ebay and is worth £1,000, but bids will start at £100. All of the proceeds from the winning bid will be donated to local sports charity Newham All Stars Sports Academy, which aims to give young people from the area the opportunity to participate in, enjoy and learn through sport.
Elpida Gailani, senior brand manager of Lyle’s Golden Syrup, said: “The golden tin is a truly beautiful item, pairing innovative design with the traditional Lyle’s Golden Syrup Christmas message and capturing the nation’s love affair with baking. We look forward to making someone very happy this Christmas with our unique collector’s item, and being able to contribute to a worthy cause through the proceeds.”
London-based engraving specialists Swatkins, who engrave the FA Cup, and design agency Design Bridge, partnered with Lyle’s Golden Syrup to create the limited edition product.
