Artisan bakery brand Speciality Breads has launched a new sesame seed-topped brioche roll – the first in “an exciting programme” of new product developments for 2016.
The new glazed roll is described as “the perfect partner for a show-stopping gourmet burger” or “something more refined like crayfish”. The new bread rolls offer a premium point of difference and are being targeted towards cafés, pubs, restaurants, hotels and other foodservice outlets, the UK-based company added.
The new product is made using free range eggs and Red Tractor-certified flour, baked into a bun that is “rich in looks and flavour” with an “irresistible sesame snap”. The 90g rolls are available pre-sliced in boxes of 48, with an approximate cost for each 90g unit of £0.65.
Its release follows an investment of £3m in a new bakery – now up and running – which FoodBev reported back in October would allow the firm to increase its cold storage, work space and oven facilities – as well as provide more than 3,000 square metres of factory floor space, capable of producing up to 20 handmade lines at once.
Speciality Breads managing director Peter Millen said: “Demand for our brioche rolls was incredible in 2015 so we have been working hard to ensure that our offering continues to develop when it comes to variety and quality. With innovation in foodservice kitchens moving at an incredible rate, it’s important that we continue to offer new ideas and unique, high quality products to keep up and, if possible, ahead of trends.”
