Bakery ingredients distributor BakeMark has acquired bakery goods producer Multifoods and two factories from CSM Bakery Solutions, as BakeMark seeks to expand its manufacturing capabilities in response to rising demand.
BakeMark will acquire the Multifoods brand and product portfolio and will take control of CSM’s bakeries in Elyria, Ohio and Spartanburg, South Carolina as a result of the deal.
The two new facilities will join BakeMark’s North American manufacturing network, which includes bakeries in Pico Rivera, California; Richmond, British Columbia and Calgary, Alberta.
BakeMark supplies a range of bakery ingredients such as cake and doughnut fillings, icings, gourmet chocolate and more to the US bakery industry under brands such as Westco, Trigal Dorado and BakeSense.
BakeMark’s President and CEO Jim Parker said: “Increased customer demand coupled with our strategy to grow our ingredients business created the need for these acquisitions.
“Adding the Multifoods brand and these manufacturing facilities will certainly help us better support our customers and industry partners and help us meet our goal of driving success for them and all our stakeholders well into the future. It’s an exciting time.”
BakeMark’s director of marketing, David Lopez, added: “The Multifoods brand brings a rich history of product quality and customer loyalty, and is a perfect fit into our exclusive portfolio of the industry’s finest brands.
“With an expanded solutions offering, we look forward to meeting more of our customers’ needs across the US and Canada, and partnering more with our customers on their successes.”
CSM Bakery Solutions sold BakeMark to Pamplona Capital Management last year, in order to focus on its core businesses in Europe and North America.
