Barefoot Wine has launched a new pink pinot grigio to help drive value in the rosé category.
Pinot grigio is currently the second biggest varietal in the rosé category, the winemaker said, with Barefoot’s latest offering set to ensure that this trend continues. The company said that releasing a pink pinot grigio would help make the varietal more relevant to a younger demographic, and claimed that the Barefoot brand was the ‘biggest contributor of growth to the wine category as a whole’.
Barefoot marketing director Olga Senkina said: “We are thrilled to welcome Barefoot pink pinot grigio into our ever growing ‘Foot family. The fun and quirky nature of our brand makes it approachable to consumers and has been a key contributor to our continued growth across our portfolio. On the back of our success we are delighted to have established ourselves as a must stock range for retailers and we are certain that younger consumers will find Barefoot pink pinot grigio as flavourful as it is affordable.”
The 11.5% ABV drink has ‘a crisp and fruity style’ with flavours of tart apple, peach and raspberry. It will retail across the UK with a recommended price of £6.99.
Barefoot recently added two other new products to its UK portfolio – a Californian malbec was introduced to offer a point of difference in a market dominated by Argentinian wines, while Barefoot chardonnay was developed to inject some fun into the varietal.
