US brand Better Almond Butter has launched a line of almond butters made from unpasteurised almonds from Spain.
The brand claimed that other almond butter brands use US-grown almonds “which require a method of pasteurisation”.
Better Almonds Butter uses only sprouted almonds from an organic farm which are said to make “a more natural and nutritious almond butter”.
While working in food film production, founder Jordyn Gatti began to realise all his favourite brands of almond butter were made using US-grown pasteurised almonds, “whittling away all the important nutrients and flavour these nuts have to offer”.
Driven by a passion to create the most wholesome, pure and palate-pleasing product he could, Gatti decided to make his own almond butter, first experimenting in his Brooklyn apartment before quickly moving to a commercial kitchen.
He said: “Simply put, the core principal for Better Almond Butter is to make better food made a better way.”
Available in three variants as of 12 March – truly raw, toasted, and sweet and salty – each 12oz jar will have a recommended retail price of $19.95.
