Mars Chocolate Drinks and Treats has sought to accelerate growth in rice cakes by launching new Galaxy rice cakes in the UK.
The popularity of the snacks, it said, has grown by nearly 10% in the last year and the sector is now worth £67 million. Chocolate is the most popular flavoured rice cake within the market and the flavour is driving category growth with a 65% increase in value sales.
With 72 calories per 15g rice cake and no wheat or gluten, the Galaxy rice cakes can be slipped easily into any handbag, rucksack, desk drawer, kitchen cupboard or gym bag, Mars said.
Michelle Frost, general manager for Mars Chocolate Drinks and Treats, said: “We are keen to offer consumers more choices on how to enjoy their favourite chocolate brands. Galaxy rice cakes provide the creamy taste of Galaxy they know and love in a light and modern way.”
Galaxy rice cakes are available now with a recommended retail price per two-count pack of £0.89.
