Illycaffè has expanded its line of aluminium coffee capsules, which are compatible with Nespresso coffee machines, with the introduction of a decaffeinated espresso blend.
Decaffeinato espresso claims to have a smooth and mild profile with less than 0.1% caffeine.
According to Illycaffè, the new blend achieves a balance between acidity and bitterness with a lingering sweetness due to notes of caramel, chocolate and toasted bread.
Made from nine Arabica varieties, the new flavour will join three other intensities in the range: Classico (available in espresso and espresso lungo, which produces more volume), Intenso and Forte.
Initially launched in October last year, the Illy-branded aluminium capsules were released as a result of the licensing agreement between illycaffè and JAB.
All capsule varieties can be purchased from the illy e-shop and select retailers for an RRP of $8.99 per pack of 10 capsules.
Through its website, consumers can order compatible capsules directly to their home including a subscription that automatically delivers coffees on a preferred schedule.
Earlier this year, Illycaffè unveiled its first ready-to-drink cold brew coffee product, which is available now in the US.
