Mars-owned M&M’s has partnered with Danny DeVito for a Super Bowl commercial as the brand releases a teaser video (below) before the event.
For many years, M&M’s commercials have ended by featuring the iconic red M&M’s lentil rising up through a pool of liquid chocolate. In the teaser trailer, it’s DeVito in place of M&M’s as the brand aims to boost fans’ interest in the upcoming full-length Super Bowl spot.
The 30-second advert will air during the first quarter of Super Bowl on 4 February.
M&M’s brand director Allison Miazga-Bedrick said: “Much like M&M’s, Danny DeVito knows how to entertain. We felt that Danny DeVito brought the perfect amount of humour needed for this year’s Super Bowl spot, and we know our fans will be delighted to see how he interacts with some of our beloved spokescandies.”
The announcement follows on from the M&M’s launch of a contest earlier this month across social media, asking fans to submit their best touchdown dance featuring M&M’s for a chance to win prizes.
M&M’s is the latest brand to reveal its commercial plans for the Super Bowl following PepsiCo’s push for Doritos and Mtn Dew Ice as well as Pringles’ planned first advert during the event.
