Mars has confirmed that it will invest €100m during the next ten years in increasing the production capacity at its chocolate factory in the Netherlands.
The site in Veghel – 10 miles north of Eindhoven – will undergo a ten-year program of expansion and modernisation in order to increase the amount of miniature chocolate formats rolling off the production line. Miniature products such as Twix Mix and Mars Mix currently account for between 25% and 30% of production, but this could increase by 4% or 5% following the upgrades.
The factory in Veghel is one of the largest chocolate factories in the world; 27m pieces of confectionery are made there every day and the 1,200 people employed to staff the plant takes the total number of Mars’ Dutch-based employees to more than 1,500.
Mars is also investing in the construction of new offices, technological innovation and the clustering of businesses as part of this round of improvements.
