Sports nutrition brand Optimum Nutrition (ON) has released two new high-protein snack products for the health-conscious consumers.
ON Protein Almonds and ON Peanut Butter Chocolate Protein Cake Bites have been made available to US consumers, and the protein almonds are a completely new product line.
The company says that the protein almonds contain two times the protein of regular coated almonds, with 190-220 calories and 10g of whey protein per pack.
Three flavours of protein almonds are initially available: Dark chocolate truffle, cinnamon roll and chocolate jalapeno.
Meanwhile, the peanut butter protein cake bites is the seventh flavour in the range, and each pack contains three snack cakes.
Each pack of snack cakes contains 20g of protein from a blend of milk and whey protein, and contains 240 calories per pack.
Trevin Morton, senior brand manager of Optimum Nutrition said: “Protein is a smart snacking choice, as it helps people feel full and sustains energy.
“ON innovates to give people more creative choices in protein-based snacks. Sure, you could have a handful of chocolate-coated almonds – but why not try chocolate jalapeno almonds that have a great flavour kick and provide even more protein per serving?
“You could have a protein bar – but ON Cake Bites provide a unique, dessert-like snack cake experience.
“Cake Bites clearly hit a ‘sweet spot’ in the market,” said Morton. “Athletes and others were craving a treat that feels like a ‘cheat’ but delivers good nutritional value with 20 grams of protein.
“As Cake Bites continue to fly off shelves, ON continues to formulate new flavours to meet demand.”
