In France, two young gourmet entrepreneurs have launched Smart-Chimp – the first antioxidant water with a spirulina base – to the mass market for this first time. The brand’s ambition is to give consumers the opportunity to taste superfoods on a daily basis.
Often sold in tablet form, this product is designed to make spirulina “pleasant to consume”, the brand said. Spirulina is a source of vitamins, antioxidants and a number of minerals, including iron and magnesium. The superfood offers many health benefits, including protecting cells against oxidation; helping the body to purify blood; and stimulating the immune system.
The drink’s natural blue colour is entirely natural – as are all ingredients contained in Smart-Chimp – and is provided by the phycocyanine protein contained in spirulina.
The product is produced entirely in France and is currently available in the Biocoop République organic food store chain, and is soon to be stocked in Naturalia organic shops.
