With the slogan “everything but the cow”, Unilever’s Ben & Jerry’s has launched a dairy-free ice cream range, made with almond milk.
The brand worked with Vegan Action to certify that the non-dairy range doesn’t include animal products of any kind – including eggs, dairy or honey.
Packed in pint tubs, the four flavours use a certified vegan almond milk base. Available are the classic chunky monkey and chocolate fudge brownie flavours, plus two new ones: coffee caramel fudge, and peanut butter and cookies. The PB and cookies variety is a vanilla non-dairy frozen dessert with chocolate sandwich cookies and crunchy peanut butter swirls.
The brand has been receiving requests for years to make non-dairy ice cream. “Creating these new flavours with a non-dairy base composition that meets the high expectations of Ben & Jerry’s consumers was quite a challenge,” said Ben & Jerry’s flavour guru Kirsten Schimoler. “We wanted to bring the same fun with all of the creamy, funky, and chunky swirls plus the Ben & Jerry’s flavour excitement to our non-dairy fans, and we nailed it!”
