Pioneering bakery brand BFree has unveiled a line of stone-baked pitta breads, which represent a brand new offering for the UK market.
The new launches “perfectly capture the taste of the traditional pitta, stone-baked and made the correct way to ensure all the flavour of a regular pitta,” the brand said. They are available in packs of four with a recommended retail price of £2.25.
Alongside the launch of BFree’s stone-baked pittas, BFree has also announced the launch of its quinoa and chia seed wrap into Asda. At only 105 calories a wrap, they are ideal for those who lead a vegan diet or who are simply looking for a healthy alternative, the brand claimed. They will launch in Asda stores nationwide with a recommended retail price of £3.25.
BFree will also extend availability of its multigrain wraps and fajita kits into outlets of supermarket chain Sainsbury’s, “paving the way for further brand growth”.
The announcements have been made at a time when the brand is seeking to meet consumer demand for healthier foods and in particular the growing demand for a wider variety of free-from products.
BFree general manager Alex Murphy said: “We are very excited to be extending our offering. We have seen a real need amongst our consumers for such products, 67% prefer the health-promoting benefits of superfoods in their diets. The quinoa and chia seed wrap, we feel, meets this need. The pittas have been brought out after research into the foods consumers with allergens miss; pitta came out as one of the tops and we are delighted to be able to offer this. Our stone-baked pitta breads are made the traditional way, baked on a piping hot stone, which gives them an authentic and delicious flavour and texture.”
