Nestlé will bring its premium Turkish chocolate brand Damak to the US, offering consumers “an adventurous taste experience not found in any other chocolate”.
With more than 80 years of heritage, Damak combines buttery, crunchy pistachios and silky smooth chocolate and is available in fine and dark chocolate versions, Nestlé said. Made with high-quality chocolate and Turkish pistachios – sourced from the southern region of Gaziantep where the climate is best suited for growing the nuts – the product is free from artificial flavours and colours.
Nestlé will make the 2.8oz bars available through select retailers in the US, with a suggested retail price of $2.49. Their launch follows double-digit year-on-year growth in the US premium chocolate market.
Shelly Lofino, brand development manager for Damak for Nestlé USA, said: “Damak chocolate bars are a bold and exotic combination of smooth chocolate and flavourful pistachios, which creates a delightful experience.
“The brand is rich in heritage and offers a one-of-a-kind taste that must be sampled to truly appreciate [it]. As a global leader in the confectionary category, Nestlé is proud to share this hallmark brand from our international portfolio with chocolate lovers in the US.”
Aside from the deal, Nestlé Damak has committed over $1m to fund training in the most efficient agricultural techniques for its pistachio producers, designed to improve and increase their harvests and help improve the welfare of those living in the Gaziantep growing region. It continues the brand’s commitment to “making a positive impact on the lives and livelihoods of the farmers who grow our premium pistachios”.
