A Welsh chocolate company has launched a commemorative chocolate bar in conjunction with the Royal Air Forces Association to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.
Wickedly Welsh’s new bars are available in typically British flavours such as rhubarb nutty crumble and custard, and tea and nutty biscuits. The company has also unveiled gift boxes containing flavour combinations such as strawberries and cream, salted caramel and raspberry with vodka.
The chocolate commemorates the end of the World War Two air campaign between the British and German air forces in the skies above the UK during the summer and autumn of 1940, which resulted in the loss of 40,000 lives. The Royal Air Forces Association, which will get a proportion of the proceeds from the sale of the chocolates, is a registered charity that provides welfare support to British air force veterans.
Wickedly Welsh Chocolate chief taster Mark Owen said: “It’s great to be able to launch this chocolate range in association with the RAF Association. It’s the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain this year and we have friends currently serving in the RAF so it’s an honour to be chosen to commemorate this with them.
“We really feel passionate about doing something to help and to highlight the amazing men and women of the RAF both past and present. It’s also a chance for us to have some real fun with some fantastic British flavours. Proceeds will benefit the Association, so we really do hope members of the public get behind this and support the charity.”
Royal Air Forces Association director for Wales, the Midlands and South West Paul Baker added: “We’re very grateful to the Wickedly Welsh Chocolate Company for choosing the Association as the recipient of donations from the sale of this exciting new range of flavours. I don’t know many people who don’t like chocolate, so this is a great way to enjoy a treat while raising money to help us support members of the RAF family when they need us.”
