US brand Alter Eco is expanding in the snacking category with the launch of its vegan Dark Chocolate Coconut Clusters range.
The organic snacks are available in three flavours: original, seeds and salt, and cherry and almond butter.
Packaged in resealable pouches, the products are targeted at ‘active outdoor snackers, desk snackers or between-meal snackers’. They combine salty-sweet ribbons of toasted coconut and 70% Ecuadorian chocolate.
Crispy coconut flakes are sliced and toasted before being drizzled with a layer of dark chocolate and sprinkled with French sea salt.
Alter Eco CEO Edouard Rollet believes the launch marks an exciting milestone for the brand.
“Forty-six per cent of Americans snack more than three times a day, and that number is expected to surge in the next five years,” he said.
“We saw an opportunity to fill a void in the snack aisle and pave the way for a next-level enlightened indulgence – one that’s filled with sustainable, superior ingredients and mind-blowingly delicious flavour.”
In 2014 Alter Eco launched two new dark chocolate flavours of its organic truffles.
The new Dark Chocolate Coconut Clusters are available in the US with a recommended retail price of $4.79 per 3.2oz pouch.
