Frozen desserts and ice cream manufacturer Icefresh Foods has secured a licensing agreement to produce a range of ice lollies based on the Despicable Me film franchise.
The raspberry and vanilla-flavoured treats feature the appearance of the minions, a collective of characters from the film series. They feature the figures’ distinctive monoglass, yellow skin and blue overalls.
They will launch into outlets of retailers Morrisons, Sainsbury’s and Asda this month, with additional lemon and raspberry push-up varieties being sold exclusively in Aldi. The products will be launched ahead of the prequel Minions, which is released in June.
Icefresh Foods brand manager Scott Wilson said: “Over the years we have built up a great portfolio of own-label and branded frozen desserts and have had a great amount of success. We want to keep developing our licensed offering, and Despicable Me will be a welcome option. We’re looking forward to working with such a well-loved brand, especially with the upcoming Minions film.”
The new franchise license will bolster the company’s branded offering for children. It has previously launched ice cream products featuring Thomas the Tank Engine, Peppa Pig and Hello Kitty. The current agreement is in collaboration with Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment.
