AliasSmith AB-owned Buen Vato has announced the European launch of the “world’s first” tequila in a cardboard bottle.
The cardboard bottle, which is made from 94% recycled material, is said to be lighter to transport, reducing CO2 emissions in a significant way compared to traditional industry methods.
AliasSmith’s CEO, Claes Puebla Smith, said: “The drinks industry needs a shake-up, and sustainability needs to be placed at the heart of this transformation. That’s why we’ve launched Buen Vato.”
He continued: “The cardboard bottle is just the start, Buen Vato will constantly redesign the production, packaging and business model in order to reach perfect sustainability”.
The product is launching in Sweden in July, with plans to distribute in the UK, Italy, France and Spain later in the year.
