Chomps to establish new meat snacks manufacturing facility in Missouri

Chomps, a well-known player in the US meat snack sector, is set to open a new manufacturing facility in Mexico, Missouri, in 2025.

This facility, developed in partnership with Western Smokehouse Partners (WSP), aims to bolster production capabilities in response to increasing consumer demand for healthier snack options.

The decision to invest in the new 300,000-square-foot site comes as Chomps reports a 206% sales growth, outpacing the overall meat snack market, which has seen a 9% increase to $4.6 billion.

The expansion is designed to enhance distribution efficiency across retail and ecommerce platforms, ensuring that products remain readily available in a competitive landscape.

Key factors influencing the location choice include the availability of a facility compliant with USDA certification standards, local workforce support and strategic proximity to existing WSP operations.

This central location will facilitate logistics and distribution, leveraging major interstate access to optimise supply chain efficiencies.

“Our new manufacturing facility represents a critical step in scaling our operations to meet surging demand,” said Pete Maldonado, co-founder and co-CEO of Chomps. “Our collaboration with Western Smokehouse Partners has been instrumental in our growth trajectory, and we look forward to furthering this partnership with a facility tailored to our specific production needs.”

The new facility is initially expected to create approximately 250 full-time jobs, with potential for future growth. This site will be Chomps' first dedicated manufacturing location, allowing for enhanced production capabilities and innovation in product development.

Since the inception of their partnership in 2016, WSP has supported Chomps' expansion from its first facility in Greentop, Missouri.

The addition of this new site will increase production capacity and enable the brand to explore new product lines, aligning with consumer trends toward clean label, high-protein snacks. Chomps’ commitment to using high-quality ingredients – such as grass-fed beef and antibiotic-free turkey – positions the brand favourably within this growing market segment.
