Ferrero UK expands frozen dessert portfolio with Kinder Bueno ice cream cones

Ferrero UK expands frozen dessert portfolio with Kinder Bueno ice cream cones

Ferrero UK has launched new Kinder Bueno ice cream cones, a move aimed at capitalising on the growing demand for innovative frozen desserts.

Available in both single cones and multipacks, the new product features two flavours: Kinder Bueno Classic and Kinder Bueno White. This introduction follows the successful launch of Nutella Ice Cream Tub earlier this year, which has reportedly performed well in the market.

The UK ice cream market, particularly the filled cones segment, is experiencing notable growth, accounting for approximately 11% of the total ice cream category, valued at £163 million.

With Kinder enjoying a 60% penetration rate in UK households, the launch of these ice cream cones is strategically timed to leverage existing brand loyalty while attracting new consumers.

The Kinder Bueno ice cream cones feature a combination of smooth hazelnut ice cream, a disc of Kinder Bueno chocolate topped with crispy cocoa sprinkles, and a crunchy hazelnut-cocoa core, all encased in a crispy wafer cone topped with hazelnut and cocoa.

This multi-textured recipe aims to deliver the classic Kinder Bueno taste profile while providing the refreshing qualities associated with ice cream.

Dani Hayward-Bradley, regional marketing director for ice cream at Ferrero, highlighted the strong performance of Kinder Bueno ice cream cones in European markets, noting their success in Ireland since their launch in March 2024.

"The Kinder Bueno ice cream cones present a significant opportunity for retailers to invigorate both Kinder Bueno and ice cream shoppers, driving additional sales in the category," she said.

The new product is now available in Morrisons stores across the UK, with a recommended retail price of £4.95 for both the multipack (4 x 90ml) and single cone formats.

This launch follows the February 2024 introduction of Kinder Bueno Classic single ice cream cones in convenience stores, with plans for a broader rollout in the grocery sector anticipated for 2025.

As the ice cream market continues to evolve, manufacturers are increasingly focusing on unique flavors and premium experiences to capture consumer interest.

The introduction of Kinder Bueno ice cream cones aligns with broader trends in the food and beverage sector, where innovation and brand extension are critical to maintaining competitive advantage.
