Spanish biotech company AB-Biotics will unveil a "highly stable" strain – B. coagulans Unique IS-2 – suitable for incorporation into food matrices at Food Ingredients Europe (FiE) 2023. AB-Biotics brings the new clinically proven probiotic strain in the form of popular consumer foods, such as cookies. The goal of the probiotic strain is to enhance stability in various food applications, "even under a wider range of temperatures and extreme processing conditions," said the company. Supported by over 25 clinical studies, B. coagulans Unique IS-2 promotes digestive health, improves protein absorption and enhances immunity, aligning with increasing consumer preferences for functional foods. According to AB-Biotics, B. coagulans Unique IS-2 broad temperature resistance, spanning from high boiling to low freezing, makes it a "valuable addition" to diverse formats like gummies, tablets, dry powders, beverages and finished food products.
