Caribbean-inspired drinks brand Wha Gwan is expanding its product line-up by introducing its newest limited-edition offering, Glidin.
Glidin is an infused wine that combines Wha Gwan's melon cherry rum tonic with sparkling Glera wine to make a 'flavour-packed' product. The Glera grape is exclusive to Italy and the main ingredient used in prosecco.
According to global market intelligence and research agency Mintel, 36% of adults view RTDs as better alternatives to buying cocktails or mixed drinks from a bar. Wha Gwan said it developed Glidin to capitalise on this trend.
The new NPD is packaged in a 330ml bottle typically associated with beers and ciders, which Wha Gwan claims is a ‘unique direction for a wine product’. David Mills, founder of Wha Gwan, said: “UK manufacturing has limited resources for bottling in cCampagne/prosecco-like bottles and with Brexit driving up the cost for importing and exporting, we decided to think outside of the box... which is how we came about bottling Glidin in a bottle that is usually associated with beer." The limited-edition wine has an ABV of 8% and is available to wholesale channels across the UK, with an RRP of £2.99.
