Amcor has introduced the AmFiber Performance Paper stand-up pouch, a recyclable paper-based refill pack for instant coffee and dry beverages.
The pouch, part of Amcor’s AmFiber Performance Paper portfolio, offers an 85% fibre content certified for recyclability by CEPI and Aticelca. It is curb-side recyclable in several European countries.
Designed to preserve the aroma and taste of soluble coffee products, the pouch provides strong seal integrity and product protection. According to Amcor, the packaging can reduce the carbon footprint of dry beverage packaging by up to 73%, alongside a 71% reduction in non-renewable energy use and a 41% reduction in water consumption.
The recycle-ready structure could also help brands lower Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) fees by 70-90% compared to non-recyclable alternatives, depending on the country.
Amcor’s AmFiber Performance Paper addresses growing consumer demand for sustainable refill packaging. According to the company, research indicates that 89% of shoppers prioritise recyclability in refill packs.
Giorgio Dini, marketing manager for coffee at Amcor, said: “This newest addition to the AmFiber family offers coffee and dry beverage brands a more attractive packaging solution that has a natural, paper-based appeal and is recycle-ready. Helping to advance more circular refill packaging, we are proud to announce the AmFiber Performance Paper stand-up pouch, as we continue to innovate in paper-based solutions.”
