Asda has announced the launch of a 12-product strong range of flavoured pigs in blankets in time for Christmas.
In a bid to appeal to a more premium market, the range features the christmas classic of pork sausages wrapped in bacon, but with “decadent twists”.
Asda’s Extra Special Truffle & Parmesan Pigs in Blankets feature British pork sausages seasoned with black summer truffle and parmesan and hand-wrapped in dry-cured, oak-smoked bacon.
The supermarket giant also unveiled Extra Special Brown Butter & Spiced Rum Stuffing Wreath with Brûléed Pigs in Blankets, a British pork stuffing wreath containing brown butter and spiced rum and decorated with pigs in blankets. The wreath is finished with a rum-spiced sugar for a brûléed effect and is finished with a cranberry centre.
Asda has launched Cheesy Pigs in Blankets, made with cheddar, mozzarella and parmesan and wrapped in smoked streaky bacon.
The company also unveiled its flavoured pigs in blankets in the frozen aisle, with the Frozen Extra Special Truffle Pigs in Blankets and Frozen Maple Pigs in Blankets that feature pork sausages wrapped in bacon and dusted with sweet maple sugar.
Asda says that “traditionalists need not fear,” as its new range sits alongside classic Extra Special Pigs in Blankets and Scrummy Pigs in Blankets.
Also launched is the ASDA Extra Special Pig in Blanket, a single, succulent, footlong pig in blanket weighing 650g, made with prime cuts of British pork, and wrapped in rashers of dry cured, oak-smoked bacon.
