New Water Capital Partners, a private equity firm based in Boca Raton, has announced the acquisition of Dutch Gold Honey, a producer of ethically sourced honey.
This strategic move includes related businesses such as McLure’s Honey & Maple Products, Gamber Container Company, The Bacon Jug Company and DGH Logistics.
Founded in 1946 by Ralph and Luella Gamber in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Dutch Gold Honey has evolved from a modest backyard operation into a nationally recognised producer of high-quality, ethically sourced honey.
The company is particularly noted for its innovative squeezable plastic honey bear container, which has become a staple in households across the country. Dutch Gold caters to a diverse clientele, including major grocery retailers, restaurants and foodservice operators, supplying honey for various applications ranging from salad dressings to yogurt.
The acquisition marks New Water's sixth investment in the consumer products sector, reinforcing its commitment to family-led businesses with growth potential.
Nick LaRosa, vice president at New Water, commented: “Dutch Gold embodies nearly 80 years of innovation and quality in the honey industry. As consumer demand for trustworthy food products continues to rise, Dutch Gold’s transparency and commitment to quality position it as a compelling investment opportunity.”
The acquisition of Dutch Gold also encompasses its associated companies, which include Gamber Container, a distributor of packaging solutions, and DGH Logistics, a transportation firm.
These entities were initially part of Dutch Gold but have since developed into independent businesses due to their growth trajectories. The acquisition further integrates McLure’s Honey & Maple Products and The Bacon Jug Company, which Dutch Gold acquired in 1997, into New Water's expanding portfolio.
Jason Neimark, partner at New Water, remarked on the acquisition: “This transaction highlights our focus on investing in businesses that are well-established yet poised for significant growth. We aim to enhance Dutch Gold’s operational capabilities and capacity to meet the increasing consumer demand for natural sweeteners, particularly organic and raw honey.”
