FBC releases Viennese Double Chocolate Fingers as hot chocolate sales surge

Fox’s Burton’s Companies (FBC) has unveiled the latest addition to its popular Viennese biscuit line: Viennese Double Chocolate Fingers.

This launch comes at a time when the hot chocolate market is experiencing significant growth, with sales up 28% year-on-year in September, indicating a growing demand for seasonal indulgent treats as winter approaches.

The new biscuits features a smooth chocolate filling nestled between two light cocoa shells, expanding FBC's existing Viennese range. This addition aims to capitalise on the growing popularity of sweet biscuits, particularly during the colder months when consumers seek comfort foods.

The Viennese brand is already performing well, with the Fox’s Favourites Viennese Milk Chocolate Sandwich Biscuits generating £14.3 million in sales and growing at 11% annually.

Colin Taylor, trade marketing director at FBC, noted the importance of innovation in the biscuit sector. “We know shoppers are looking for new ways to treat themselves throughout the day and into dark evenings,” he said.

The new product is now available in 120g packs at Sainsbury’s stores nationwide, retailing at an RRP of £1.90. This launch is strategically timed to coincide with the seasonal uptick in biscuit consumption, particularly as consumers prepare for festive gatherings and colder weather.

FBC UK has established itself as a key player in the British biscuit market, being the second-largest branded biscuit baker in the country.

The company boasts a diverse portfolio that includes brands such as Maryland Cookies and Jammie Dodgers. Maryland Cookies is a key player in the cookie category with £73 million in sales, while Jammie Dodgers holds a strong position in the kids’ biscuit market.

The biscuit market in the UK has shown resilience and adaptability, with consumers increasingly seeking products that combine quality and indulgence.
