Odyssey secures $6m investment amid growth in functional beverage sector

US-based functional beverage brand Odyssey has completed a $6 million equity funding round, marking a significant milestone in its growth trajectory.

This latest investment brings the total funding for the brand to $14 million within just two years of its launch, reflecting a robust interest in its innovative energy drink offerings.

Founded in 2021, Odyssey says it is the first ready-to-drink energy beverage infused with a potent blend of 2,750 mg of lion’s mane and cordyceps mushrooms.

These adaptogenic ingredients are designed to provide not only an energy boost but also cognitive clarity and focus, appealing particularly to health-conscious consumers seeking alternatives to traditional energy drinks.

The recent funding round attracted notable investors, including Richard Laver from Rocket Beverage Group, while existing stakeholders contributed approximately 50% of the total raised amount.

This influx of capital is earmarked for enhancing sales, marketing and inventory, facilitating Odyssey’s expansion strategy and increasing product accessibility across the US.

“Odyssey is taking an all-new approach to energy beverages,” said Scott Frohman, founder and CEO of Odyssey. “Our formulation focuses on cognitive energy, utilising a proprietary blend to minimise the jitters typically associated with traditional energy drinks and deliver sustained, crash-free support.”

Odyssey’s product line features three distinct offerings with varying caffeine levels, all free from added sugars, preservatives and artificial ingredients. The beverages are vegan, non-GMO and kosher, aligning with the growing consumer demand for clean label products.

The brand is also ramping up its marketing initiatives, planning to engage consumers through events and an ambassador program that targets college campuses, athletes and influencers.

Odyssey’s products are currently available nationwide in major retailers such as Publix, CVS, GNC and Wegmans. Odyssey’s focus on cognitive enhancement and natural ingredients positions it well to capture the interest of younger consumers, particularly Gen Z and millennials.
