Old El Paso, a Tex-Mex food brand owned by General Mills, has announced its foray into the soup category.
Following the success of its Cinnamon Toast Crunch Dessert Taco Shells, the brand is now introducing a line-up of Tex-Mex-inspired canned soups, marking its debut in this category.
The new range features five flavours, all without artificial flavours or colours. Available exclusively at Walmart in the US, the soups hit shelves with a price tag of $4.32 each.
The flavours include:
Chipotle Corn Chowder Soup: a smoky chipotle-infused soup featuring corn and sweet green peppers. This option caters to gluten-free and vegetarian preferences.
Chicken Cheese Enchilada-Style Soup: a rich and creamy rendition of the beloved cheesy enchiladas. It can be topped with a sprinkle of cheese and a dash of cilantro. It is also gluten-free.
Chicken Tortilla Soup: a blend of tender chicken, vegetables and spices. It can be topped with crunchy tortilla strips, cheese, lime or jalapeños. This option is gluten-free, low-fat and a good source of fibre. Mexican-Style Chicken & Rice Soup: this Mexican-inspired creation marries tender chicken, veggies, spices and rice in a broth. Add cilantro and a splash of lime to enhance the taste profile. It is also gluten-free. Jalapeño Chicken Noodle Soup: this variation adds heat and flavour to the classic comfort soup. With only 100 calories per serving, Old El Paso says it is a guilt-free indulgence. Old El Paso is complementing its soup line-up with a new addition to its baking mix range. The golden, sweet Old El Paso Cornbread Baking Mix, available in Southwest Style and Cinnamon Churro flavours, promises to be an ideal dipping companion for the soups. Priced at $3.49, these baking mixes are currently available at select retailers and will hit nationwide shelves this summer.
