Orchard House Foods calls in administrator

Orchard House Foods, a UK-based provider of packaged fruit products, has filed a notice of intention to appoint an administrator. A spokesperson said the decision was made following the “extremely challenging economic and trading conditions that have badly hit Orchard House Foods”. As a result, input prices and overheads increased for the company, leading to “significantly increased pressure on cash position”. The company says plans are afoot for an administrator to step in and run Orchard's Corby, Northamptonshire, site, as well as to repay creditors and review strategic options for the business. The spokesperson added: “For our former employees at Gateshead, once an administrator is appointed, they will be able to claim any outstanding monies owed, including the delayed redundancy payments, via The Insolvency Service. We expect this to happen as soon as the administrator has been appointed and we will be providing them with additional support to help with their claims.” Further details were not disclosed.
