Illinois, US-based dairy company Prairie Farms Dairy has acquired SmithFoods for an undisclosed sum.

SmithFoods was founded in Ohio, US, in 1909, and manufactures various products including milk, sour cream, cottage cheese, ice cream and custard mixes.

McClelland continued: “As a farmer-owned cooperative, we're always open to exploring opportunities that will return value to our dairy farmers. The SmithFoods acquisition was an easy decision because the Orville facilities complement our network of dairy plants and expand our Ohio footprint.”

The change is effective immediately, with both companies committed to a seamless integration with no disruption in manufacturing and delivery services or other day-to-day operations.
