Saputo USA has launched its latest product, Cheddarella String Cheese, a novel hybrid that merges the robust flavour of cheddar with the iconic stringy texture of mozzarella.
This new offering, set to debut on store shelves in July 2025, aims to appeal to both children and adults seeking innovative snacking options. Cheddarella String Cheese is positioned to capitalise on the growing consumer preference for snackable cheese products.
By combining cheddar, the most popular cheese type in the US, with low-moisture part-skim mozzarella, Saputo aims to deliver a product that not only satisfies taste preferences but also aligns with current snacking trends.

Research indicates that children favour yellow cheddar over white varieties, making this product particularly suitable for lunchboxes and after-school snacks.
The product will be available in convenient 12-count packages, each containing 0.833 oz sticks, catering to the on-the-go consumer. This packaging strategy reflects a broader trend in the F&B industry, where convenience and portability are a priority for busy families and health-conscious individuals.
Jenny Englert, director of marketing at Saputo USA, highlighted the company's commitment to innovation in the cheese sector. “Cheddarella String Cheese represents our ongoing dedication to creating snacks that resonate with consumers’ desires for great taste and quality ingredients,” she said.
This launch is part of Frigo Cheese Heads brand's strategy to maintain its leadership in the string cheese category, which is currently the top segment in the US cheese market.
Retail distribution for Cheddarella will include major grocery chains such as Albertson's, Whole Foods Market and Food Lion, indicating a robust strategy for market penetration.
