Stag's Leap Wine Cellars, a winery based in California, US, has acquired Arcadia Vineyard.
The acquisition follows the recent passing of Arcadia Vineyard’s founder, Warren Winiarski. Located in the Coombsville AVA region of the Napa Valley, California, Arcadia is a 135-acre property with 84 planted vineyard acres, divided between Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Merlot.
Both Arcadia Vineyard and Stag’s Leap Wine Cellar were founded by the Winiarski family, before the Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars was sold to family-owned Tuscan producer, Antinori, in 2007.
Speaking about the acquisition, Antinori owner, Marchese Piero Antinori said: “When Warren decided to sell Stag's Leap Wine Cellars in 2007, he made it a condition that he could retain ownership of the Arcadia Vineyard. Warren, in fact, like us, recognised the Coombsville AVA as one of the most promising areas of the Napa Valley. This is why we are particularly thrilled today to have been able to reunite this vineyard with the Stag's Leap Wine Cellars property."
Juan Munoz-Oca, Stag's Leap Wine Cellars' estate director, said: “We are beyond thrilled to have acquired this stunning vineyard in such a special place. The unique terroir of Coombsville AVA promises to elevate the expression of our wines and align the style to Warren's original vision, while meeting the quality expectations set in place by the Antinori family when we took full ownership of the winery back in the summer of 2023."
