Sugarich, a UK-based company recycling surplus factory food into animal feed, has expanded its operations with the successful acquisition of former food waste processing business, JD Bamber, located in Preston. The facility will now operate under the Sugarich brand.
Founded more than 50 years ago, Sugarich works with food manufacturers to reduce waste and repurpose surplus products, focusing on collection methods and offering advanced technologies to help minimise waste and reduce environmental impact. The acquisition aims to secure its position in Europe, as well as open up other markets.
Alex Keogh, managing director of Sugarich, said: “It is clear that consolidation in the food and feed sector is accelerating, aligning with our growth strategy. We remain committed to expanding our UK presence and delivering innovative solutions for surplus foodstuffs to a broader customer base.”
Sugarich’s CEO, Andy Newton, added: "This move not only strengthens our presence in the UK but also reinforces our commitment to innovation, sustainability, and excellence in the co-products industry. We are excited to welcome new partners and customers and look forward to building a stronger, more dynamic business together.”
JD Bamber’s production operations will transition into Sugarich sites over the coming weeks, and will continue to be led by Jim Bamber, JD Bamber’s director.
