Swizzels marks 70 Years of Refreshers with new Tropical Chew Bar

Swizzels marks 70 Years of Refreshers with new Tropical Chew Bar

British confectionery manufacturer Swizzels is commemorating the 70th anniversary of its Refreshers brand with the introduction of a new product: Tropical Chew Bar.

This launch underscores the brand's ongoing evolution and its responsiveness to current consumer trends, particularly the increasing demand for fruity flavours in the sweets market.

The Tropical Chew Bar, which features a mango and pineapple flavour, aims to attract consumers seeking a vibrant, refreshing treat. This product retains the signature fizzy sherbet center that has made Refreshers a staple in the UK confectionery landscape.

Swizzels’ Refreshers range already includes popular variants such as the original Lemon Chew Bar, along with strawberry, sour apple and cherry cola flavours. The commitment to innovation is evident in this latest addition, which reflects the brand's strategy to adapt to evolving consumer preferences.

Clare Newton, Swizzels' trade and shopper marketing manager, highlighted the relevance of tropical flavours in today’s market. "Tropical flavours are having a real moment with consumers this year," she noted, indicating that the new flavour aims to meet the growing demand for fresh takes on classic confectionery products.

According to industry data from Circana, Refreshers remains one of the most popular chew bars in the UK, highlighting the brand's strong market position. The introduction of the Tropical Chew Bar could further solidify this status by appealing to both loyal customers and new consumers drawn to innovative flavour combinations.

Each 18g bar is vegan-friendly and will be available to wholesalers in price-marked boxes of 60, with a recommended retail selling price of 20p.
