John R Tyson, Tyson Foods’ CFO
Tyson Foods‘ chief financial officer, John R Tyson, was arrested in Fayetteville, Arkansas, on Sunday for public intoxication and criminal trespassing.
A police report indicated that Tyson, who is the great-grandson of the company’s founder, was found sleeping in the wrong home and was unresponsive when officers attempted to speak with him. The report also stated that a female had found Tyson, who she did not know, sleeping in her bed upon returning home.
The report made reference to Tyson’s “unlawful presence in a house, where he was not invited, paired with the odour of intoxicants, and his general demeanour when confronted by uniformed officers”.
He was taken to the Washington County detention centre and released Sunday evening. According to the police report, Tyson has been summoned to court on 1 December.
Tyson, 32, was promoted to CFO on October 2, just six weeks ago.
According to Reuters, shares of the $24 billion US meat company by sales were down 1.3% on Monday.
Tyson Foods said in a statement that they were aware of the incident and called it a personal matter.
