Vetropack Group, a manufacturer in the European glass packaging sector, has confirmed the appointment of Lukas Burkhardt as its new chief executive officer, effective January 1 2026. This transition follows the retirement of Johann Reiter, who has led the company since 2018.
The decision to appoint Burkhardt was made by the board of directors, who commented on his extensive experience in the glass packaging industry. Currently serving on the management board of Gerresheimer AG, Burkhardt has been instrumental in leading the company's Primary Packaging Glass Division since 2018.
His previous roles include management positions at Audi and the Rieter Automotive Group, where he gained valuable insights into global operations, particularly in Asia.
Claude Cornaz, chairman of the board of directors at Vetropack, said: “We are very pleased to have recruited such a successful management figure as Burkhardt. He has in-depth knowledge of the industry, international experience, strategic foresight and the creative drive of an entrepreneur. We are convinced that he will lead Vetropack successfully into the future and, like his predecessor, can shape a new era for us.”
Reiter's tenure has been marked by notable achievements, including the implementation of the 'Strategy 2030+,' which has driven Vetropack’s international expansion and product innovation. Under his leadership, the company recently launched thermally tempered lightweight glass bottles, a significant advancement aimed at enhancing sustainability in packaging.
